NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Greetings,
As parent teacher conferences come to a close I’d like to thank you for the commitment you demonstrate by coming into school to learn about your child’s progress.
We are so thankful for the generous support of Karyn Briand and her family, who made this year’s science fair a fabulous success once again. Congratulations to all of our young inventors and scientists! The students who participated demonstrated higher level thinking skills and the scientific method. Students were engaged and excited to share their knowledge with the audience. We look forward to seeing many more experiments and discoveries next year!
We are very much looking forward to the annual winter concert which will be held on Friday, December 22 in the Gymnasium. We are excited to hear the festive selection Mr. Cortina and the SRS students have been busy preparing for us! Please be sure to join us from 10:00-11:00 AM, and remember that we will have an early release that day. Students will be dismissed from school at 1:10 PM. If you plan on joining your student for lunch after the concert, please be sure to place your order in the Office by 10:00 AM. If you would like to pick up your student directly after the concert, please be sure to send in a note or communicate with the Office beforehand.
Fondly,
Kelley
Library Lines
The Book Fair is coming! The Book Fair is coming! The Scholastic “Wild West” Book Fair will be in your Swift River Library from Tuesday, December 5 through Friday December 8. The hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM.
The Book Fair's past success was largely due to wonderful volunteers. Again this year, we have a fabulous line-up of volunteers!
The Book Fair is a wonderful opportunity for holiday shopping, so mark your calendars! Teachers will also create a Classroom Wish List if you’d like to purchase a book for the classroom (hint: they make great holiday gifts!)
This year we will participate in the Scholastic “All for Books” program. Your donation (loose change or $1) will enable children in our school to purchase books from the Book Fair who are unable to buy them. Scholastic also matches monetary donations received by donating books to two charities - Kids In Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc! The Swift River PTCA has made a generous donation to kick off our collection! Thank you for your participation in this program!
Make time to read,
Betsy
