NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Greetings,

Thank you to the families, staff, and members of our local Fire and Police Departments who contributed, participated, and volunteered during the PTCA’s Fall Fest last Saturday. It looked like we all enjoyed the old-fashioned country fair, as well as the rock wall and bounce house. The crockpot meals, pizza, baked potatoes, and baked goods were delicious. Thank you to the PTCA for hosting this event.

Thank you to all the parents who have scheduled their child’s Parent-Teacher Conferences (coming up in the next two weeks). I appreciate the commitment you demonstrate by coming into School to learn about your child’s progress. If you haven’t signed up for your child’s conference, please do so as soon as possible.

I’d like to remind families that school starts at 8:18 AM. Any child who arrives after 8:40 AM is tardy. No matter what the situation or time, all students must check in at the Office when arriving late. By doing so, we will be able to record their attendance in the Office, collect any bus notes, and inform the Cafeteria of lunch changes. This will help to clear up any confusion, especially when Nan or Karyn make absence calls. The Office really appreciates your cooperation with this necessary step.

Thank you to Jamie and Ashley Beauchesne, Preschool parents, for their generous donation of mums. They have been a beautiful addition to the planters in front of the School, around the flagpole, and by the Preschool entrance.

Fondly,

Kelley

Science Fair News

Hello SRS parents and students! This year’s Science Fair is approaching quickly! More and more sign-up slips are coming in—please keep them coming! Extra sign-up forms are available in the Office.

Our Science Fair Helpers are at the ready on Monday mornings for help sessions; if your scientists need assistance with choosing topics or putting the finishing touches on projects, please send in a note. Don’t forget: this year’s suggested topic is SOIL.  But, if you’d rather, feel free to explore a different topic.

The friendly competition continues and the 6th Graders are in the lead for greatest class participation—keep up the great work! For additional help, please attend a Monday help session or call Karyn at 978-544-8427 or 508-887-3719.

Thank you,

Karyn Briand Science Fair Coordinator

Library Lines

The Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest was a huge success, with 16 participants! I'm amazed at the creativity shown, and the judges had a difficult time deciding on the winners. Everyone won a certificate to be used at the Scholastic Book Fair, which will be held in December. Congratulations!!!

Make time to read,

Betsy
