NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Greetings,

With our first issue of the Current for 2017, I would like to wish all of you a happy and healthy New Year. I am very excited for all of the wonderful things our school will accomplish in 2017, and I am grateful to start my year off surrounded by our wonderful SRS community.

I would like to extend my gratitude to Jack Radner and Emily Maiella for their donation of a beautiful grape vine peace wreath, which is now hanging on the front of the building. The wreath looks beautiful and honors our school message, and I appreciate their craftsmanship and generosity.

Furthermore, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Diemand Farm in Wendell for their donation of 20 top-quality turkeys this week. We gave the turkeys to some families in our community. We appreciate Diemand Farm’s support of our families.

Fondly,

Kelley Sullivan

Overheard in the Lab

After logging into the online library catolog, a student looked at the list of books she has checked out. Turning to her friend, she said, “Wish they could tell us where they are.”

Friends of the New Salem Library

The Friends of the New Salem Public Library’s annual “Reading Aloud for Grownups” program kicks off on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:00 PM at the New Salem Public Library. Please join us for an evening of short stories, chosen by the readers, and read with expression and delight. Deb and Andy Lichtenberg and Doug Turner are the first readers this season. This is a wonderful opportunity to escape the winter weather and have fun with other adults!

Wine, cheese, coffee, tea, and desserts will be offered during the program. Donations to benefit the Friends of the New Salem Library organization are gratefully appreciated. Please note that in the event of a storm, the program will be rescheduled for January 18.
